Stay In Milan With A Duomo View (Without Spending A Fortune)

UPDATED MAR 2020. We all know Milan. It’s one of the most iconic cities in Italy. I’m sure it’s not common that people visit this city specifically to watch WWE Wrestling, but that’s exactly why I planned a visit recently. WWE was coming to town and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go and see the show – I’m the girl who went to WrestleMania alone after all! While I was doing an accommodation search I assumed there would be no way I could afford to stay anywhere nice and/or close to the Duomo. I figured that would only be for those super glamorous fashion bloggers or people with a lot of money. I’m really happy to share that it is 100% possible to find a place to stay in Milan with a Duomo view and not spend a fortune and I am revealing all the details here today.

Where to stay in Milan with a Duomo view

I found Glamour Apartments by chance on Booking.com and was so glad that I did.

They have a range of different sized apartments at different price points, and not all come with a view of the Duomo. Personally, I think if you’re going to stay here though then you may as well have the dreamy view.

It is not super cheap, budget accommodation, but it is affordable especially in the low season. I recommend checking the site to see the prices for the room & time you want.

Places with a view like this usually come with such a HUGE price tag so I appreciated being able to find something midrange that was a nice splurge without draining my bank account.

The view of the Duomo from the hotel

The view of the Duomo really speaks for itself. What a treat to be able to stay somewhere with such an iconic view.

From the window of your room, you can gaze out at the Duomo which commands your attention day and night.

If you don’t feel like braving the crowds, you can snap some pictures from right there in the comfort of your room.

Another bonus of being so close is that if you like photos, you can step outside early in the morning, before the tourists crowd the area, and get some great pictures easily.

The room

I was excited to find a place to stay in Milan with a Duomo view and, I know I’m skeptical, but to be honest, since it wasn’t outrageously expensive, I didn’t expect much.

This turned out to be one of those times I was happy to be wrong because I was pleasantly surprised by the apartment.

The room I chose was the Superior One Bedroom Apartment with Duomo View. With a comfortable bed, incredible view, fast wi-fi, and jacuzzi bathtub, I certainly had much more than I needed for the stay.

It wasn’t all super high quality, so if you’re expecting a luxury hotel standard then you will be disappointed. But it was comfortable, provided value for money and was perfect for a romantic weekend away.

Other details about the hotel

The apartment had one main bed as well as two single beds and a couch in a separate room so it could accommodate a few people.

There was also a microwave, fridge and some kitchen utensils. If you wanted to save a little money, you could make some food in the apartment instead of eating out. This might come in handy as Milan is very expensive.

It’s not a hotel that is staffed 24 hours a day, so you need to let the hosts know what time you’ll arrive. They’ll be there to check you in and give you a key.

Parking is available but unless you’re going to be driving around a lot, I’d recommend taking the train as it’s probably cheaper than paying for parking.

From the Milano Centrale Station, you can get the Metro yellow line to the Duomo station for about 1.50 Euro and you’ll be almost directly at the apartments.

Things to do nearby

Visit the Duomo… duh!

Unless you really love shopping, I don’t think you need more than 2 nights. As you would imagine the apartments are walking distance to all the main sights, as well as metro stations (a really great way to get around if you are exploring further than walking distance).

Below the apartments, you can find a McDonalds (that’s a good reference point to look out for when you are finding the hotel), as well as a few cafes which share the gorgeous view. Beware though, the cafes come with a steep price tag. If you have the cash to splurge it’s probably worth it, but if you’re on a budget, just avoid them.

A short walk from the apartments, close to the bone church, is a supermarket where you can pick up some grocery items to cook in the apartment.

Overall thoughts

Glamour Apartments was a great place to stay for a romantic weekend away in Milan. The view was obviously the real drawcard and definitely lived up to the hype.

But I also appreciated the ease of getting around, the value for money with all of the facilities and the comfort of the cozy room.

If you’re planning a visit to Milan, I highly recommend booking yourself a room here but be sure to book early as the apartments with the view of the Duomo book up quickly.

It’s true that you often think anything that has to to with Italy is expensive. Same with Milan as well, so this got my attention right away! My god the view you got, like what da, no need to go outside! Epic you think? this is a total steal!

You are so right – the view is incredible, plus all the amenities and the walkability – definitely makes it worth splurging – although it sounds like it was pretty affordable. Not a wrestling fan, but definitely a fan of Milan.
